This study followed 800 men and women throughout their lives over eight decades, and is the most comprehensive investigation of aging ever conducted. Learn what the research has to say about your risk, and how to develop a lifestyle that will translate into healthy & happy longevity.

A Town Hall Forum titled, “Diagnosis: Probable Alzheimer’s-Type Dementia. Now What?” is being held Thursday, July 29th, 2010 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Lake San Marcos Resort Conference Center in North County.

This free educational forum for family caregivers will address the issues facing a family caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease. A panel of experts will discuss various issues facing those assuming the role of the caregiver and how to empower and protect yourself and your loved one.

Health Care Group’s ActivCare^®- Residential Alzheimer’s Care facilities and the George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc. are hosting the event, continuing the sixth year of free educational forums for family caregivers.

In addition, the Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers will be providing free adult day care during the event at their Encinitas Center. Reservations are required. Tuesday, May 18th – $100 Incentive for Focus Group Participation

Southern Caregiver Resource Center is collaborating with a private company, named Independa, to facilitate a caregiver focus group to understand how caregivers might respond to a technology product they are currently developing.

Independa is offering a $100 incentive for each caregiver who participates in this focus group.

Qualifying caregivers must meet the criteria:

You are a family caregiver taking care of your loved one(s) who are living independently. (If they live with you, you could qualify to participate if they are left alone most of the day.)
You are concerned about the costs of or need for professional caregiving, costs or need of independent living or assisted living facilities.

Do you meet the criteria? If so, and you would like to attend, Independa is offering a $100 incentive for each caregiver who participates in this focus group. The focus group will meet on Tuesday, May 18^th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Southern Caregiver Resource Center’s Conference Room (3675 Ruffin Road, Suite 230; San Diego, 92123). Dinner will be provided for you.

The CA State Commission on Alzheimer’s is asking for input to the State Plan from Latino Family Caregivers who take care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Please join us on Saturday, June 19, 2010, from 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at San Ysidro Health Center’s new Adult Day Health Center at 3364 Beyer Boulevard, San Ysidro, CA, 92173 for the Latino Alzheimer’s Community Forum.
