			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Care for someone with Alzheimers, usually by family members, reached 17 billion hours and was valued at more than $202 billion last year, as estimated by the Alzheimer&#8217;s Association. The toll on the family caregiver &#8211; physically, emotionally and financially &#8211; can be devastating. This recent article exposes the challenges of family caregivers and the need for a national plan of action for dealing with Alzheimer&#8217;s and related dementia.</p>
<p>Alzheimer&#8217;s has no cure. It affects one in eight people over the age of 65 and nearly half of all of those 85 and older.</p>
<p>Early detection, developing a care plan, and care options outside the home and helpful along the caregiving journey.</p>
